Utilities face growing financial obligations as their infrastructure ages and deteriorates toward the end of its useful life. In an effort to be more proactive and effectively plan for the rehabilitation/replacement of this infrastructure, utilities are implementing asset management policies and practices aimed at accurately forecasting replacement costs. The presentation will discuss two (2) approaches to asset management: The Program Level (Top Down) Approach and the Project Level (Bottom Up) Approach and the relative benefits of each method. Software tools developed by Earth Tech will be demonstrated that support each of these approaches.
